First Microsoft-Certified DLNA televisions enrich and simplify the home entertainment experience

Toshiba's Consumer Electronics Group, a division of Toshiba of Canada Limited, today announced the launch of the new REGZA UX600 LED series, the first  Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA)-certified televisions officially recognized by Microsoft Corp. as compatible with Windows 7.

In addition to offering consumers remarkable picture quality, the new series also includes advanced interactive features that make for a more complete home entertainment experience.

When is a television more than just a television? When it can easily act as a stereo system, digital picture frame and personal computer.  When combined with a Toshiba notebook featuring the new Toshiba Media Controller application, an intuitive application with a drag-and-drop interface, the UX600 series allows users to easily stream videos, music and pictures from other DLNA devices without the usual headaches and hassles. Users can even connect through their Xbox 360 to enjoy photo slide shows or music playlists.

"Toshiba is thrilled to offer the first DLNA-certified televisions officially recognized by Microsoft," said Ralph Hyatt, President and CEO of Toshiba of Canada. "The UX600 series attests to Toshiba's desire to deliver the best possible experience. In addition to superior image quality and robust Internet capability, users will love how easy and intuitive streaming content is, especially when coupled with a Toshiba notebook that features the new Toshiba Media Controller application."

"Microsoft is pleased that Toshiba has released the UX600 line of TVs in Canada. Now any customer in Canada can take full advantage of the media-streaming capabilities in Windows 7 with a new Toshiba TV using the Play To feature." said Eric Gales, president of Microsoft Canada Inc.

Get Connected
The REGZA UX600 series makes home networking and connecting to the Internet simple.  Consumers can wirelessly stream content such as music, video and photos from a notebook computer, and other DLNA certified devices. Unlike other Internet capable televisions, the REGZA UX600 series also comes equipped with its own WPA Wi-Fi adapter, making it ready for Internet connectivity right out the box. The WPA Wi-Fi adapter simplifies the set-up process and allows users to access Internet widgets with the push of a button on the TV remote control.

Think Outside the Box
Toshiba’s REGZA UX600 series takes entertainment on-demand to a whole new level with the addition of NET TV capabilities. Featuring a variety of popular applications, NET TV inspires consumers to think beyond traditional television content. With applications such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Flickr, REGZA UX600 users can easily connect and share photos, music and status updates with family and friends; even while watching TV.  News services, including the New York Times, CNN and MSNBC, keep REGZA UX600 users informed with the latest information.

Love What You See
Available in 40-inch, 46-inch and 55-inch screen sizes, the REGZA UX600 series features a slim, Air Lagoon design that is less than two inches in depth and provides a subtle dimension to a clean, flat design. The REGZA UX600 series also meets ENERGY STARÒ 4.0 requirements.
